Velma Agee Ridgeway

Velma Agee-Ridgeway "Dude" was born November 7, 1938, to the late James and Olivia Agee in Dixion Mills, AL. She departed this earthly life Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Velma was the first of three children, Velma attended and graduated from Marengo High School in the Class of 1956. Velma begins her career at Thomasville Hospital as a nurse for 30 years and dedicated 15 years of service with the Marengo County Rescue Squad in Sweet Water, Al.

Velma accepted Christ at an early age and United Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, where she as a choir member until her health begin to decline.

Velma met her soulmate, Albert Ridgeway in 1980 and they shared a wonderful life together for 22 years until the Lord called him home. Velma was women who was full of love, laughter and good times. Her favorite saying was "It's Hard but It's Fair". She loved spending time with her family and watching Alabama Crimson Tide football to music. "Roll Tide"  

Velma was preceded in death by her parents, James and Olivia Agee, husband, Albert Ridgeway. daughter, Shelia Agee-Chapman. grandsons; Larry Pendleton Jr. and Tommy Chapman; great- granddaughter, Khadejan Wiggins; and brothers; James Agee Jr. and Wendell Agee. 

Velma leaves to cherish her legacy and precious memories to, nine devoted children; Tammy (Bill) Thornton and Toria (Kenneth) Rankins both of Coffeeville, AL, Wille B. (Wanda) Agee, Ronnie Lee Agee, Rickey (Doris) McCall all of Dixon Mill, AL and Terry (Tonya) Agee of Gadsden, AL, Doreta (Larry) Pendleton, Billy (Javan) Agee and Tracy Hall of Toledo, OH; and 

a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends/
