Lillian James, affectionally known as "Sweetie," a beloved resident of Jackson in the Choctaw Bluff Community, answered the Master's call on Tuesday, February 10 2026, at Jackson Health Care Facility.
She was born on May 6, 1942, to the late Josephine James. At an early age, following the passing of her mother, she came under the loving guardianship of her grandfather, the late Wesley C. Stella) James. After his passing, she was cared for by her uncle, L.V. (Florence) James.
Sweetie was a faithful and devoted member of St. James A.M.E. Church until her health began to decline. She loved her family dearly and had a special gift of recognizing the arrival of love ones simply by the sound of their vehicles. She was always excited to see her familyand was known for being full of life and joy at all times.
She was precededin death by her mother, Josephine James; two brothers, Robert Robinson and Willie Ray Davis; one sister, Viletta Andrews; one aunt, Virginia (Percy) Lucas; and two uncles. L.V. (Florence) James and Albert (Beatrice) James Jim Henry (Rutha Mae) James.
Sweetie leaves to cherish her precious memories: one devoted daughter, Kathy (Phabian "Poodie") Gaston; one sister, Virginia (Clarence) Irby, Jr.; one devoted granddaughter, McKinley Gaston; one devoted nephew, Clarence Irby 3rd; one aunt, Thelma J. Allen; and a host of other loving nieces, nephew, relative, and friends.
