Erick worked as a truck driver for many years and was affectionately known by many as “Bear.” Later in his career he worked as a mechanic with Bumpers Transportation & Doubleback Trucking.

Erick will be remembered for his dedication, his strength, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Annie Gilmore, and one brother, Michael Gilmore.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Peggy Philon of Silas, Alabama; four devoted children, Raven Westbrook of Silas, Alabama; Erin (Christopher) Washington of Jackson, Alabama; Brandy Philon of Mobile, Alabama; and Eric “EJ” Philon, Jr. of Silas, Alabama; and a beloved bonus daughter, Sabrina Lewis.

Erick was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Paisley, Carter, Cole, Madison, Rayna, Chloe, Aria, and Ivy, and three bonus grandchildren, Kody, Khali, and Askiya.

He is further survived by four aunts, Carrie Steward and Levon McGrew of Silas, Alabama; Emmie (Purvis) Calhoun of Grove Hill, Alabama; and Gwendolyn Jarvis of Montgomery, Alabama.

He also leaves to cherish his memory five uncles, Hurbert Philon of Calera, Alabama; James Philon and Charles (Delsena) Philon, both of Silas, Alabama; and George (Mary) Gilmore and Jesse (Hazel) Gilmore, both of Coffeeville, Alabama.
